The history of Wally Yachts
Wally Yachts opened in Monaco in 1994 with the Italian entrepreneur and passionate yachtsman Luca Bassani at the helm. The company changed the concept of building cruising yachts and created its ultra-modern style that quickly became iconic. Initially, the brand specialized in the design of sailboats. Later, the company also blew up the market with unusual motor yachts and tenders.
TODAY WALLY HAS A WINNING POSITION ON THE MARKET THANKS TO ITS INNOVATIVE DESIGN AND STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY.
For instance, one of the most famous models – 118 Wally Power Galeocerdo, built in 2003 – received the Millennium Yacht Design Award in the category of the Model of the Third Millennium. In 2004 it became a part of an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco.
Sailing projects include Better Place, a 50-metre sailing superyacht built in 2015, which was the world’s largest carbon composite sloop at the time.
Current status
In early 2019, Wally became part of the Ferretti Group. The latter invested more than €70 million in brand development and new projects, including the WallyWhy model line of motor yachts.
Production of Wally Yachts
Over the years, Wally has built over 40 sailing yachts and 100 motor boats from 10 to 50 meters. The headquarters are still in Monaco. Until recently, the company did not have its own production – yachts were built in partnership with other shipyards, including Persico, Green Marine, and Nobiskrug. Since joining the Ferretti Group all new Wallys are built at the group’s in Ancona. While creating projects, Wally tends to collaborate with witty architects and studios such as Reichel Pugh, Judel/Vrolijk, Tripp Design, Soto Acebal, Frers Design, and Pininfarina.
Model range
Undoubtedly, Wally Yachts knows its way to build semi-custom and custom sailing and luxury designer motor yachts. In both categories, the carbon fibre composite hull length ranges from 12-13 to 45 metres.
Features of Wally Yachts
A world leader in yacht innovation, Wally combines the latest technology with modern design, constantly looking for ways to improve the speed, comfort and style. Wally twice won Compasso d’oro, the most important award in the world for quality and design. Since 2011 Wally yachts has taken part in such regattas as the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta and Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.
