Founded by Bernd Breymann and Klaus Enzmannn. A family/brand of catamaran designs, the first of which was the F1, introduced in 1979. It is said the concept is based on the designers dissatisfaction with a trend towards complexity and fragility in many high performance ‘off the beach’ catamarans at the time.
In 1986, the faster and wider 18ft dual-trapeze “Spitfire” model was introduced. The Spitfire evolved into the K1 in 1994.
The Topcat 4.5 became the successor to the F1 in 2005.
The K4 became the successor to the 4.5 in 2012.
The K4 became the K4X in 2017
In 2012, Breymann’s daughter Valery Walden and her husband Pablo Walden took over management of the company.
