About
Company history
The French shipyard Swissat Yachts was born in 2008 when its creator Jurg von Ins was looking for a suitable yacht for a long cruise. It was to be a fast yacht with good sailing characteristics while still offering a high level of comfort on board. Not having found anything that met these criteria, Von Ince decided to build his own project by bringing together a professional development team. The Swiss architect Sebastien Schmidt, known for his Decision 35 and Gitana projects, was invited to do the design work. This is how the shipyard Swissat Yachts appeared, a small production of sailing catamarans for offshore cruising with composite hulls, fast and comfortable. A year later the company produced the first model S2C55, named Fantazia (currently operated in Australia). Since the launch, Swisscat Yachts has built about 20 sailing catamarans 45-65 feet long.
Production .
Swisscat catamarans are being built at SCC’s shipyard in the city. Balaruc-le-Bain on the south coast of France near Montpellier. The production area includes 2,000 m2 of covered workshops and its own pontoon for finishing work on water.
Model range
Swisscat Yachts is building the only production model Swisscat S48. It is a catamaran designed for long offshore cruises. In addition, the company offers services for the development and construction of individual projects from scratch. Swisscat Yachts works in tandem with architects of BYD Group and is ready to realize any ideas of clients.
Features
Swisscat catamarans are built on the basis of designs of racing multihulls of the top level, such as Alinghi 5. They are equipped with a lightweight composite hull moulded into a single matrix. Swisscat is highly reliable and adapted for small crew or solo operation. Swisscat’s high level of customization (more so for deck equipment, layouts and interiors) allows the project to be tailored precisely to the customer’s needs. Thanks to the small volumes, Swisscat’s production has become «chamber-like», where close interaction between client and shipyard has become the norm. Service support for the yachts is provided through an extensive partner network. The company also takes care of the brokerage if a client wishes to sell their Swisscat at some point.
