Company history
The history of one of the oldest Dutch shipyards Van Dam Nordia goes back to the 1600s. At that time Helling Shipyard was working there and in 1881 it was bought by Erie van Dam, who is considered to be the founding father of Van Dam Nordia.
At first the company built small cargo ships, but 27 years later the first pleasure sailing boats began to appear in the model range, but in 1939 production was suspended and resumed only after the war.
In 1956 the shipyard entered the market for custom-built sailing yachts and this became the main focus of the company. By the 70’s Nordia had abandoned the usual wood and switched to metal alloys.
On the 125th anniversary of the builder (in 2006) Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands awarded the shipyard the title of Supplier «of the Royal Court.
Next year the shipyard announced the expansion of its range of motor yachts.
