American west coast boat builder, sailor, yacht designer, and musician. He owned The Spaulding Boat Works which today is the Spaulding Wooden Boat Center
But he was man of m any talents and played violin with the Fox Theater’s vaudeville orchestra, for silent movie houses, ballet, and with the San Francisco Symphony.
